Sheriff wants to charge driver in fatal accident

The Sherburne County Sheriff's office has sent a complaint to the Sherburne County Attorney's office with two criminal-vehicular charges against the driver in the March 1 accident in rural Princeton which claimed the life of Princeton teen JoBeth Miller.

The accident also injured the driver and another passenger.

Sheriff Bruce Anderson reported Tuesday morning that he has charged driver Tyler Payne, 17, Princeton, with one count of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular injury with great bodily harm.

Asked for details that might shed light on why the car Payne was driving went into the ditch, Anderson answered that "speed was a factor" but that he could not say more, explaining that there is an ongoing investigation.
