The regular meeting of the School Board of District #477 was called to order by Chairperson Lisa Fobbe on the 11th day of October, 2005, at 7:02 p.m. in the District Board Room.
Roll Call. Members present: Dennis Dehn, Lisa Fobbe, Brenda Hoffman, Karen Metcalf, Howard Vaillancourt, Daniel Whitcomb, Superintendent Mark Sleeper, and Director of Business Services Carol Peterson.
Members absent: Debra Ulm and Student Representative Samantha Olson.
A Letter of Commendation was presented to Lynn Beckenbach, district DAPE teacher, recognizing her as the 2005 recipient of the Allen Burton DAPE Leadership Award.
Motion by Brenda Hoffman, seconded by Dennis Dehn, to approve the agenda as presented, with modifications. Motion carried.
Motion by Karen Metcalf, seconded by Howard Vaillancourt, to approve the consent agenda as revised:
Minutes of 9/27/05 regular school board meeting as presented.
Resignations of Donna Hunt, full-time South Elementary Cook's Helper; Nicole Zarich, South Elementary Playground Assistant.
Licensed contract modification for Nicole Hauth, High School FACS Teacher, additional Child Development class during second trimester; and add back a baking class during third trimester.
Extended Time Agreements/Overloads for Mark Hayes, High School Industrial Technology Teacher, .20 F.T.E. third trimester only, effective 3/2/06 - 6/2/06; Stacie Karasch, High School Spanish Teacher, .20 F.T.E. second trimester only, effective 11/29/05 - 3/1/06; Richard Kielty, High School Industrial Technology Teacher, .20 F.T.E. first and second trimesters only, effective 8/29/05 - 3/1/06; Tracy Kristo, High School English Teacher, .20 F.T.E. second trimester only, effective 11/29/05 - 3/1/06; Thomas Lymburn, High School English Teacher, .20 F.T.E. first trimester only, effective 9/1/05 - 11/23/05; Thor Mattick, High School English Teacher, .20 F.T.E. second trimester only, effective 11/29/05 - 3/1/06.
Employment of Karen Cichy, part-time South Elementary Special Education Assistant, 3 1/4 hours per day; Jenny Finstrom, temporary South Elementary Special Education Assistant, hours per day, effective 9/19/05 until a licensed speech/language pathologist is hired; Wendy Provo, reassignment from Middle School Food Service-Dishwasher, 2 1/4 hours per day, to South Elementary Food Service-Server, 2 1/2 hours per day; Bruce Warner, reassignment from High School Special Education (E/BD) Assistant to Middle School Special Education (DCD) Assistant, 6 1/2 hours per day; Kelly Wiltgen, part-time South Elementary Special Education Assistant, 3 1/4 hours per day, effective 9/21/05 - 9/30/05 and temporary South Elementary Special Education Assistant (replacing Katrina Sias until a licensed speech/language pathologist is hired), effective beginning 10/3/05.
2005-06 extra-curricular assignments: David Cordes, Assistant Gymnastics Coach; Jon Meinke, Mock Trial Advisor; Jennie Ruth Warren, North Elementary Yearbook Co-Advisor; Bus Supervisors Erin Engness, Krista Gamble, Matthew Kraker, and Robert Polgreen.
Nonresident Student Attendance Agreement: Student A (grade 11), Princeton resident to attend St. Cloud Schools.
Crystal Cabinet Works donation of shelving for coach locker rooms for supply storage (value approximately $1,000).
RJ's Too Sports Bar and Grill, Princeton, donation of $200.00 toward student assistance (bus and activities program costs).
Upon roll call vote being taken regarding the consent agenda, motion carried.
Motion by Daniel Whitcomb, seconded by Brenda Hoffman, to accept the FY'05 school district audit report and accompanying letter as presented. Upon roll call vote being taken, motion carried.
Motion by Dennis Dehn, seconded by Brenda Hoffman, to adopt the resolution determining that the tentative agreement with the Princeton Administrative Team does not cause structural imbalance of the School District's budget during the period of the agreement. Upon roll call vote being taken, motion carried.
Motion by Daniel Whitcomb, seconded by Howard Vaillancourt, to approve the 2004 - 2006 Princeton Administrative Team master contract. Upon roll call vote being taken, motion carried.
Motion by Daniel Whitcomb, seconded by Brenda Hoffman, to adopt the resolution determining that the tentative agreement with the Princeton Food Service Employees does not cause structural imbalance of the School District's budget during the period of the agreement. Upon roll call vote being taken, motion carried.
Motion by Brenda Hoffman, seconded by Daniel Whitcomb, to approve the 2005 - 2007 Princeton Food Service Employees master contract. Upon roll call vote being taken, motion carried.
Motion by Daniel Whitcomb, seconded by Howard Vaillancourt, to adopt the resolution appointing election judges for the November 8, 2005, school district special election. Upon roll call vote being taken, the following voted in favor thereof: Dennis Dehn, Lisa Fobbe, Karen Metcalf, Howard Vaillancourt, and Daniel Whitcomb; the following voted against the same: none; and the following abstained: Brenda Hoffman; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
The following policies were presented for first readings by the School Board Policy Committee:
GBLAB - Cancel - Drug and/or Alcohol Testing Policy and Procedures (to be replaced by 416)
416 - New - Drug and Alcohol Testing (replacing GBLAB)
IGBC - Cancel - Title I Education Program (to be replaced by 612.1)
IGBC-E - Cancel - Title I Education Procedures (to be cancelled as a policy but remain a procedural document/form corresponding with 612.1)
612.1 - New - Development of Parental Involvement Policies for Title I Programs (replacing IGBC)
ILLD - Cancel - Graduation Requirements (to be replaced by 613)
613 - New - Graduation Requirements (replacing ILLD)
Motion by Daniel Whitcomb, seconded by Brenda Hoffman, to approve the following policy actions as presented and recommended by the School Board Policy Committee (reflecting also a recommendation to adopt Policy 516):
JHCD - Cancel - Administration of Medication (to be replaced by 516)
516 - New - Student Medication (replacing JHCD)
JHCD-E1 - Cancel - Authorization for Administration of Medication at School (to be cancelled as a policy but remain a procedural document/form corresponding with 516)
JHCD-E2 - Cancel - Administration of Medication Guidelines (to be cancelled as a policy but remain a procedural document/form corresponding with 516)
Motion carried.
